The Green Chain Walk and Capital Ring (and Beckenham Place Park Nature Trail)

These are long distance walks around London, the Green Chain started as a route from Erith to Crystal Palace, The Capital Ring sometimes follows the Green Chain or makes diversions from it. The Green Chain follows two routes from the centre of the park so ensure you know which direction you are heading in. I would advise you to become familiar with a mapping app on your smartphone. Some websites provide .gpx files of waypoints to follow on walks.

Various interesting diversions can be found to join Beckenham Place with Catford and Ladywell, Bromley and Hayes, Kelsey Park and South Norwood Country Park. The Friends can provide information on these destinations.

The marked out Nature Trail proceeds from the mansion, crosses the valley and between the golf course, makes a loop through woodland and the Riverside Walk and returns to the Mansion.  The route can be picked up from Crab Hill entrance, Ravensbourne Avenue entrance, and from Old Bromley Road  entrance  once the river is crossed. A brochure Nature Trail Guide, is available with directions and maps.
